Go Local For National S'Mores Day on August 10

The quintessential flavor of summer is a s’more. Toasted marshmallows, melting a milk chocolate bar with a crisp graham cracker, are all smooshed together to create a flavor of memories and fun!
For the last decade, the s’more trio of flavors have been splashed all over dessert menus, recreating and deconstructing the profile of chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker. You can find different combinations, like Peel Wood Fired Pizza and their Nutella S’more Pizza, or a nacho variety from Loaded Elevated Nachos in St. Charles, where they pile a mound of cinnamon sugar chips, and add layers of marshmallow crème, Nutella, mini marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs and dark chocolate curls. They are living up to their name with '"elevated", this is a next level s’mores treat.
You can locally find s’mores paired with wine, like at Robust Wine Bar in Webster Groves. Their s’mores dessert comes out as fudgy, decadent brownie, with a charred marshmallow layer and a dusting of graham cracker crumbs, paired with their Chateau Maurac cabernet merlot blend, with notes of cherry and cocoa.
For even more excitement, there is a mobile s’mores food truck, The S’more Shack. You can taste and see their love for s’mores in their mammoth, fluffy marshmallows that are flame-torched and pressed between their homemade graham crackers, branded with their logo. The best part is trying to decide from the six different varieties of s’mores they offer. If you can’t decide, just take their gourmet s’more box to-go, even order it online.
The one unspoken ingredient to a good s’more is the roaring flames of a campfire, creating just the perfect layer of char and smokiness. One local place offers this fourth ingredient to your s’more experience, Ballwin Sno-Cone, with a large circular fire pit built for just that, and s’more kits are available to roast on site.
No matter how you like your s’mores, we can all agree that we can use more s'mores in our lives! Happy S’mores Day!
